Dialogue with Dr. Betty Reardon on Peace Education

Today, peace education is necessary more than ever. The pandemic crisis, the widening economic inequality, discrimination, hatred, extremism, climate emergency, and other problems all point to the importance and imperativeness of peace education. The Korean peninsula is one of the places which have particular needs for peace education on top of such reasons.

In this context, the Korean Society of Education for International Understanding and the Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU) are pleased to host “Dialogue with Dr. Betty Reardon on Peace Education,” on the occasion of the publication of the Korean translation of her book, Comprehensive Peace Education, by Prof. Soon-Won Kang.

Dr. Reardon is a world-renown peace educator who has linked feminism and peace education. She founded the International Institute on Peace Education (IIPE) in 1982 at Teachers College, Columbia University, USA, and received the UNESCO Prize for Peace Education in 2001 in recognition of her pioneering work and contribution to peace education. APCEIU organized IIPE in Seoul in 2003 with Dr. Reardon.

Participants     Educators, researchers, policy-makers, activists, students, and citizens in South Korea are expected to join the Dialogue.

Language        Consecutive interpretation will be provided for Korean and English.
